The match between Bangladesh and Pakistan was washed out without a ball being bowled at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium today.

The match turned out to be inconsequential after the both of the teams made an early exit from the semifinal race following defeats in their first two matches.

The rain stopped for a while to give a glimmer of a hope to have curtailed-over game but soon after it started pouring heavily to such extreme extent that the umpires were prompted to call off the match.

The washed out game ensured that both teams bowed out with at least a point. 

But the both teams are disappointed with the outcome, saying that they would be happy to have a full game.

"I am very much disappointed. We really wanted to play this match, but can't do anything about the weather," Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto said.

Pakistan hosted an ICC event after three decades but they had to bow out of the tournament at early stage, something which is tough to gauge for them, as their captain Mohammad Rizwan said.

"We wanted to do well and perform well in from of our nation," Rizwan said. 

"The expectations are very high. We didn't perform well and it is disappointing for us. [Way forward] You can learn from your mistakes."

Bangladesh tasted a six-wicket and five-wicket defeat to India and New Zealand respectively that ruined their way to move to the semifinal.

Hosts Pakistan also lost their first two matches against those two opponents. They conceded a 60-run defeat to the New Zealand before suffering a six-wicket defeat to archrivals India.
