Metro, Rangpur face off for NCL T20 glory

Dhaka Metro will take on Rangpur Division in the final of the NCL T20 for securing the coveted trophy at Sylhet International

Cricket Stadium tomorrow (Tuesday).

The match starts at 12.30 PM.

Both of the teams came to the final as deserved teams after showing good

consistency throughout the tournament.

Metro won all of the matches in the group phase but lost only game to Rangpur

in the first Qualifier. However, they amended the mistakes in the second

Qualifier to beat Khulna by 37 runs and thereby made it final at the second

shot.

Rangpur, on the other hand, won five out of seven in the group phase to

occupy the second slot behind Metro. However, in the first Qualifier, they

beat Metro to move the final at the first shot.

There were handsome prizes on offer also. The Champions team will be rewarded

with Taka 20 lakh along with a trophy. The runner-up will get Taka 10 lakh

while the player of the tournament will pocket Taka 100,000 and the best

batter and bowler will be rewarded with Taka 50,000 each.

The tournament, which was launched to find some fresh cricketers, can be

called successful. Aggressive batters like Jishan Alam and Azizul Hakim Tamim

have shown their promise to give Bangladesh a hope that the future is in safe

hands. Youngsters like Ahmed Sharif and Fahad Hossain have shone in bowling.

Apart from them, experienced cricketers like Naim Sheikh, Kazi Nurul Hasan

Sohan, Abu Haider Roni and Alauddin Babu have also proved themselves.

Overall, the NCL T20 has made a good mark on the cricket canvas.

The organisers have also made a great effort to create a stir in the

tournament. They unveiled the logo and trophy at separate events in Dhaka.

They completed the event with a captain's meet in Sylhet and a photo session

before the final. In addition, all the matches were broadcast live, so the

audience's eyes were also on the TV screen. Now they are just waiting for the

final.
