Speakers demand stern legal action against Chhatra League
Speakers at a discussion on Wednesday termed Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of Awami League, as a terrorist party organization and demanded immediate legal action against it.
They said BCL leaders-activists have a long record of carrying out atrocities particularly in educational institutions across the country. As a result, many students suffered critical wounds, some of them became blind and crippled, they added.
Bangiya Sahitya Sabha organized the discussion styled “Chhatra League and politics of terrorism” at Maulana Mohammad Akram Kha Hall at Jatiya Press Club.
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Publicity Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Bangiya Sahitya Sabha member Ehsan Mahmood, journalist Maruf Mollik, General Secretary of Gana Odhikar Parishad Rashed Khan, Chhatra Union DU unit president Meghmallar Basu, among others, spoke at the event.
Shafiqur Rahman, Ariful Islam Adid and Mansura Alam who were tortured and injured by Chhatra League activists also spoke on the occasion. Bangiya Sahitya Sabha member Salah Uddin Shuvro conducted the event.
The speakers said BCL has now become a terrorist party and steps should be taken to ban it immediately.
A total of 30,000 leaders of activist of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD killed regime of Awami League, they said.
Salauddin Tuku urged all to remain alert against Awami League and BCL as the party is hatching conspiracy against the present interim government.
He said the immediate past AL government appointed their party men in various sectors and misused the state power for its political interests.
