No mercy to perpetrators, every killing should be tried: Rizvi

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Wednesday said the killing of every individual during the student-led mass movement should be tried, not showing any mercy towards the perpetrators.

"Every murder should be tried by forming a tribunal. Every crime should be tried. If the criminals including Sheikh Hasina are not prosecuted, then Bangladesh will become a graveyard," he said.

Rizvi placed the demand when he, on behalf of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, was handing over the donation to the father of Golam Rabbani, who was killed in the movement, at their family business firm in the city's Shahbagh area.

He said if the killers, who shot the people dead on the orders of Sheikh Hasina during the students and mass movement, are forgiven, it would betray the souls of the victims.

Not mentioning the name of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, the BNP joint secretary general said they forgave Awami League. How they could ask to forgive those who carried out genocide, he questioned.

He said no innocent person should be a victim in the lawsuit, but those who are guilty can't be pardoned.

Rizvi asked the BNP leaders and activists not to take law in their own hands rather let the law enforcement agencies to do their jobs.

He said his party acting chairman Tarique Rahman also issued a note of strong warning in this regard.

BNP Chandpur district unit president Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik and BNP assistant health affairs secretary Nazrul Islam, among others, were present.
