All should change mindset for establishing democracy: Dudu
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Vice-Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu today underscored the need for changing mindset of all for establishing democracy.
Pointing at all working at constitutional institutions, civil and police administrations, he said: "Now you have to work for establishing democracy in the country. Without that, I don't think we can do anything better."
He said these while addressing, as the chief guest, a sit-in programme demanding immediate withdrawal of all cases and sentences, against Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman, given at the order of the ousted autocrat.
Bangladesh Nagarik Adhikar Andolan organized the programme with its Convener M Jahangir Alam in the chair. Organization's Member Secretary Engineer Mofazzal Hossain conducted it.
BNP Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon and Training Affairs Secretary AMB Mosharraf Hossain also spoke, among others.
Shamsuzzaman Dudu said democracy cannot be established without vote. That is why, polls should be held for the nation in line with the constitution as soon as possible to return to democratic trend, he said.
"This country is ours. We have to prevent all unpleasant things in the country. Some miscreants are trying to extortion," he said.
"Our leader Tarique Rahman gave directives to bring those, who will be found involved in extortion and those are miscreants, to justice. No mercy should be shown here. In view of the country's interests, democracy, economic interests and political interests, those who are miscreants should not get mercy," Shamsuzzaman Dudu said.
