BNP stages sit-in protests to demand trial of Hasina, aides for murders
BNP is staging demonstration across the country on Thursday demanding the trial of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her aides, who were ousted in the recent student-led mass upsurge.
Leaders and activities of BNP and it's associate bodies joined the sit-in programmes that started at 11am in the capital's several places.
The places included the Central Shaheen Minar, the South Gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, in front of Awami League Office, and in front of BNP Central Office.
In the afternoon, they will join a rally in front of BNP Central Office in Nayapaltan where it's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will address.
BNP Dhaka South City unit arranged the sit-in programme at the South gate of Baitul Mukarram Mosque.
Addressing the function the unit's convener Rafiqul Islam said, "Our demand is only one and that is the fallen fascist and autocratic Sheikh Hasina and her aides to be arrested and tried. These persons carried out genocide in Bangladesh."
More than hundreds of leaders and activists of Jubo Dal Savar unit are holding a sit-in programme in front of Awami League Central Office in the city's Bangabandhu Avenue. They are chanting different slogans demanding the trial of Sheikh Hasina.
The leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) are staging the sit-in programme at the altar of Central Shaheen Minar in the capital.
JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib and it's General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir are leading more than 1000 participants there.
Besides, BNP city units, Jubo Dal and Swecchasebak Dal brought out processors on different city's streets including Malibagh, Mouchak, Shahjahanpur and Kaptan Bazar.
