Awami League men attack on BNP's Natore rally with sharp weapon
Awami League activists with sharp weapons have attacked on BNP's rally bound people in Natore in presence of law enforcement agencies on Wednesday, reveals a video obtained by the Mirror Asia.
The attackers hacked BNP district convener Shahidul Islam Bachchu on his way to attend rally demanding the release of Chairperson Khaleda Zia. Seven people, including Former Rajshahi Mayor Mohammod Mosaddik Hossen Bulbul, were injured in attack with sharp weapons. Followers of Awami League's lawmaker Shafiqul Islam Shimul allegedly attacked on BNP's rally bound people.
The injured have been admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, with doctors reporting Bacchu’s condition as critical.
BNP's district unit joint convenor Dewan Shahin said Awami League activists began attack in front of the party’s office in Alaipur.
“Following the central program, the BNP organizsd a rally in the morning. While en route to the rally, Shahidul Islam Bacchu and two others were attacked with sharp weapons, leaving them severely injured. Subsequently, ruling party supporters launched an assault on the rally, injuring Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul and three others, he said.
The police intervened, chasing away the attackers and bringing the situation under control. Natore Superintendent of Police Tariqul Islam said that the BNP had a scheduled programme. “BNP leader Shahidul Islam Bachchu and three others were attacked by miscreants on their way to attend the programme. Police are working to find out who carried out the attack,” he said.
BNP leaders have demanded justice for the attack, but there has been no official statement from the police regarding the incident.
