Bank accounts of Asiatic frozen

The Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has instructed banks and non-bank financial institutions to freeze all accounts of the country's influential advertising firm, Asiatic Marketing Communications Ltd.

 

A letter regarding this matter has been sent to the top officials of all banks and financial institutions by the CIC.

 

A senior CIC official said, "We have instructed banks and financial institutions to freeze the bank accounts of Asiatic Marketing Communications Ltd."

 

He said an investigation into tax evasion by Asiatic Marketing Communications Ltd is ongoing. They will also examine whether the company has any undisclosed income or assets beyond what has been declared in tax documents regarding their wealth, income, 

 

The CIC has begun collecting transaction details of individuals linked to Asiatic Marketing Communications Ltd. Additionally, information on several other individuals is also being gathered. Tax intelligence officials have already collected transaction details of a few individuals, and the process of freezing their bank transactions is underway.

 

A senior CIC official not to be named said, "We are gathering transaction details of several others involved in Asiatic’s wealth management. So far, we have identified a few individuals and are in the process of freezing their accounts."

 

However, since formal requests to freeze accounts have not yet been sent to the banks, the official declined to disclose any names.

 

No CIC official agreed to provide recorded statements either.
