Religious harmony will not be politically exploited: interim govt

Asif Mahmud Sojib Bhuiyan, Youth and Sports Advisor, visited the Gallamari Harichand Thakur Temple and Bagmara Govinda Temple in Khulna this evening.

During his visit, he emphasized that religion has often been used by various political parties for their gain in the past. However, the current interim government will not allow the Sanatan (Hindu) community to be used as a political tool.

He further mentioned, "The independence achieved through the blood of students and the people ensures that individuals of all religions can live together in harmony."

Referring to two recent incidents-a disturbance at a cultural event in a Chattogram Durga Puja mandap and the theft of a golden crown from the Jeshoreshwari Temple in Satkhira-he assured that the authorities have already apprehended the culprits and will ensure they are brought to justice.

When asked by reporters about the renovation of Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium and the possibility of hosting tournaments like the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the advisor responded, "Not only Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium, but all stadiums across the country will be made suitable for sports, restoring a proper environment for athletic events."

Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam, Superintendent of Police T M Mosharraf Hossain, General Secretary of the Metropolitan Puja Celebration Committee Prashanta Kumar Mundu, and other administrative officials and temple committee leaders were present during the visit.
