Inspector Arafat arrested for burning bodies in Ashulia
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-3 has arrested Inspector Arafat Hossain in connection with the incident of bodies being burned in front of the Ashulia Police Station on August 5.
He was arrested from Dhaka’s Aftabnagar on Friday, confirmed ASP Imran Khan of RAB Headquarters.
RAB's Legal and Media Wing Director Lieutenant Colonel Munim Ferdous said that a video of burning bodies in front of Ashulia police station on August 5 creates widespread criticism.
Following an investigation, law enforcement revealed that Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Arafat Hossain was involved in the incident. He later went into hiding. A video circulating on social media shows bodies being loaded onto a police van in front of Ashulia police station.
The 1-minute-50-second video, believed to have been taken after clashes led to 31 deaths in Savar on August 5, also shows several uniformed police officers present at the scene.
Another 15 people injured in the August 5 clashes later succumbed to their injuries. Upon investigation, it was found that the location in the video is near Ashulia police station in Baipail, Savar.
