Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASAD) President Hasanul Haque Inu was arrested on Monday afternoon in connection with a case filed under the Explosive Substance Act.

He was detained by police in Dhaka’s Uttara area and has since been taken to the Detective Branch (DB) headquarters, according to law enforcement officials.

Inu, who served as the information minister during the Awami League-led government from 2012 to 2019, was arrested following the filing of a case at Newmarket Police Station. His party, JASAD, is a key partner in the 14-party alliance led by the Awami League.
