Menon on 5-day remand
A Dhaka court on Friday placed Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon on a five-day remand in a case lodged over murder of trader Abdul Wadud in capital's New Market area during recent anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider passed the order as police produced Menon, a key leader of the Awami League-led 14-Party Alliance, before the court and pleaded to place him on 10-day remand in the case.
Menon was arrested from capital's Gulshan area on August 22.
Wadud was shot in front of New Market 1st gate on July 19. His relative Abdur Rahman filed the case with capital's New Market Police Station on August 21 against 130 people including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader.
Other prominent accused in the case are- Mohammad Ali Arafat, Anisul Huq, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Salman Fazlur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud and Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun.
