Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, who is set to lead the interim government, will arrive in Dhaka soon.

“Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus will arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka on the Emirates flight (EK-582) from Dubai at 2:10 PM Dhaka time (GMT +6) on Thursday, August 8, 2024, subject to the flight being on time,” said Lamiya Morshed, Executive Director of the Yunus Centre.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin decided on Tuesday night to form an interim government headed by the globally acclaimed Nobel Peace laureate. The decision emerged from a lengthy meeting held at Bangabhaban, attended by the chiefs of the three forces, two teachers from Dhaka University, and coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

During the meeting, student representatives proposed an interim government led by Dr Yunus. President Shahabuddin agreed with their proposal, Bangabhaban announced shortly before midnight.
