Dr Yunus to lead interim government
Nobel Laureate Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus will lead the interim government as its chief adviser.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin made the decision after holding a meeting with chief of defense forces and coordinators of students movement on Tuesday night, confirmed the Press Wing of Bangabhaban.
Known as the ‘banker to the poor’, Dr Yunus and the Grameen Bank he founded won the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize for helping lift millions from poverty by providing tiny loans of sums less than $100 to the rural poor who are too impoverished to gain attention from traditional banks.
