Govt ready to speak with quota protesters: Law Minister

The government will hold discussions with quota reform protesters to resolve the ongoing crisis, says Law Minister Anisul Haq. 
 
"On the quota reform issue, we agree in principle," he told reporters after returning from Ganabhaban in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon.
 
The announcement comes as quota protesters continue to stage countrywide demonostartions in a massive scale, which has led to several clashes, leaving hundredes of students injured.
 
"The discussion will be held whenever the agitating students agree to sit for talks," said the minister, adding that Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury has been appointed to lead the discussions with the students.
  
Urging the protesters to withdraw their movement, the law minister said, "As a father, I request you to withdraw from the movement."
 
"The Prime Minister has directed me to consult with the Attorney General and expedite the hearing date at the Appellate Division," he added.
