Indians remit $50.6m from Bangladesh in 10 months

Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali on Monday said Indians living in Bangladesh took away 50.60 million dollars to their country in the first ten months of the running 2023-24 financial year.

At the same time, foreigners took a total of 130.58 million dollars to their respective countries, said the finance minister. The Finance Minister in response to a written question of Independent MP elected from Faridpur-3 Constituency AK Azad divulged the information in Parliament.

He said that the annual income information of foreign nationals living in Bangladesh is not stored in Bangladesh Bank. “From July to April of the current financial year (2023-24), foreign nationals living in Bangladesh have taken 130.58 million dollars from their income to their country.”

Giving the information about the number of dollars taken by the citizens of any country, the minister said, India 50.60 million dollars, China 14.56 million dollars, Sri Lanka 12.71 million dollars, Japan 6.89 million dollars, Korea 6.21 million dollars, Thailand 5.30 million dollars, United Kingdom 3.59 million dollars, Pakistan 3.24 million dollars, United States 3.17 million dollars, Malaysia 2.40 million dollars, citizens of other countries took 21.92 million dollars to their country.
