ICG dialogue to focus Bangladesh perspective after fall of Hasina
International Crisis Group (ICG) is hosting an international webinar to provide insight on ambitious reform plans and prospects of interim government of Bangladesh after fall of authoritarian regime of Sheikh Hasina.
ICG senior consultant Thomas Kean, Dhaka University Prof Amena Mohsin and Dhaka Tribune Editor Zafar Sobhan will connect the session as panelists.
Although Yunus’ government has a strong public mandate and has managed to build a fragile political consensus with key political players, including BNP and other Islamist parties.
The interim government faces significant challenges in implementing reforms before convening an election, expected in the next twelve to eighteen months.
The ICG dialogue will emphasis on how international partners can support political and economic reforms. The discussion will also touch upon the government’s efforts to stabilise the economy, manage Bangladesh’s international relations and address conflicts in the Chittagong Hill Tracts and Rakhine State.
