RMG worker killed in clash with police in Savar

A garment worker was killed and two others were injured during a clash between police and workers in Ashulia, on the outskirts of Dhaka, on Monday.
 
The deceased has been identified as Kawsar Hossain Khan, a sewing operator at Mango Tex Limited. The incident occurred when workers staged a protest demanding higher wages.
 
According to Ashulia Police Station's officer-in-charge, Abu Bakar Siddique, the workers began demonstrating on Monday morning, calling for an increase in their wages. By the afternoon, the situation escalated when police arrived on the scene and fired rubber bullets in an attempt to disperse the protesters, leaving three workers injured.
 
Kawsar was rushed to Savar Enam Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The two injured workers, Russel Mia and Nayan, are currently receiving treatment at the same hospital.
 
Tensions remain high in the area following the clash.
 
In a separate incident, workers from Birds Garments blocked the Nabinagar-Chandra highway in the Bypile area of Ashulia on Monday morning, demanding unpaid wages. The blockade caused significant traffic congestion, with long tailbacks reported along the highway.
