Eminent journalist, freedom fighter Badiul Alam passes away
Noted journalist and Freedom Fighter Badiul Alam passed away at his Moghbazar residence here this noon at the age of 77.
Alam breathed his last at 1:45 pm as he had been suffering from different diseases including kidney ailment for long, his relative Quamran Chowdhury said.
He said the career journalist was admitted to Insaf Barakah Kidney & General Hospital where he underwent kidney surgery in December last.
Then, he was taking treatment staying at home, he added.
Alam is survived by wife and only a daughter.
The fearless journalist was former treasure of Jatiya Press Club (JPC), ex-general secretary of the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF), former acting president of Forum of Environmental Journalists of Bangladesh (FEJB) and founding member of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).
He was born on January 29, 1947 in Chandpur district.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at DRU and JPC.
Alam will be buried at Azimpur graveyard after Isha prayers.
In a condolence message, DRU President Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo and General Secretary Mohi Uddin prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
