China keen to import sea fishes, jute products from Bangladesh
China has expressed keen interest to import sea fishes, shrimps, crabs, jute products and mangoes from Bangladesh.
The interest was revealed as Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen made a courtesy call on Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter at her secretariat office here on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the fisheries adviser expressed satisfaction over the enhanced relations between Bangladesh and China, saying two countries can work together for duty free access of Bangladeshi products into Chinese market.
The Chinese envoy expressed keenness to import sea fishes, shrimps, crabs, cuchia, jute and jute products and mangoes from Bangladesh, an official release said.
Wen said Chinese investors are very much interested to install sea fish processing factories through private sectors of Bangladesh and thus Bangladesh can export processed fishes to China.
He also said China has an interest in preservation and processing of sea fishes.
The adviser and the envoy agreed to work together on mutual interest of the two countries.
Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Sayeed Mahmud Belal Haider, Additional Secretaries ATM Mostafa Kamal, M Tofazzal Hossen, Chinese Embassy's Trade Councilor Song Yang, First Secretary Shi Chen and Third Secretary Bai Zhaoxi, among others, were present at the meeting.
