Govt to procure 25,000MTs of rock phosphate, 40,000MTs of MOP fertilizer
The government on Tuesday approved separate proposals for procuring some 25,000 metric tons (MTs) of rock phosphate and 40,000MTs of MOP fertilizer to meet the growing demand of the country.
The approvals came from the third meeting of the Advisers Council Committee meeting on Government Purchase held at the Finance Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat on Tuesday with adviser to the interim government on the ministries of Finance and Commerce Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
After the meeting, he told reporters that following a proposal from the Ministry of Industries, some 25,000MTs of rock phosphate would be procured for TSPCL.
Besides, in response to another proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, 40,000MTs of MOP fertilizer would be procured from Canadian Commercial Corporation under the fifth lot for Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC).
Asked about the country's power and energy situation, Dr Salehuddin said the government does not hinder the proposals related to power and energy as the proposals for procuring LNG alongside fertilizer and pesticides are important
affairs. Those proposals are now being cleared quickly by the Economic Affairs Committee and Purchase Committee no matter whatever the constraints are, he added.
Replying to another question on when the power and energy situation would return to normalcy, the finance adviser suggested raising the question before the adviser concerned.
