Magsaysay Foundation applauds Dr Yunus for economic contribution
Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation (RMAF) has appreciated the contribution of Grameen Bank founder Dr Muhammad Yunus for supporting Bangladesh economy during the unstable situation in mid of seventies last century.
“Prof Yunus came forward when Bangladesh was economically unstable. He has changed the lives of billions of people not only in Bangladesh but across the world,” Susan B Afan, president at RMAF told a conference in Manila of Philippine on Thursday.
More than 500 participants from around 30 countries of the world are participating in the 14th edition of Social Business Conference in the South East Asian country.
Addressing the conference, Dr Muhammad Yunus said that the whole world is going in the wrong direction as civilisation has been misguided. “This civilization is leading people to destruction. A new civilisation is needed to survive. In the speech given at the 14th Social Business Conference, the promoter of the concept of social business,” said Dr Yunus who pioneered social business.

Nobel Peace laureate Tawakkol Karman of Yemen said that the justice system is being used to harass people in different parts of the world. “A case has been filed against Professor Yunus, who has worked for peace across the world, in his own country. Genocide is being carried out in Gaza - he commented and demanded to stop it right now,” she said.
Yunus Center and Philippines-based Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation (NWTF) organised the two-day summit.
